Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is “upset” with the Football Association over his charge for swearing into a television camera, according to reports.

The Portuguese manager has until Friday to respond to the charge with the FA alleging Mourinho’s words were “insulting and/or abusive and/or improper”.

If found guilty, Mourinho faces a touchline ban for his actions after being filmed mouthing words into a television camera following United’s 3-2 victory over Newcastle United.

According to The Times, the FA used lip readers and language experts to allege that Mourinho said “fodas filhos de puta” which means “F**k off, sons of a bitch” in Portuguese.

He also made a gesture with his right hand while speaking, pointing with his little finger.

The 55-year-old, who claimed after the match that he was the subject of a media “manhunt”, said when asked about the gesture: “It is a finger. Smaller than the others, but it is a finger.”

And the report continues by claiming that Mourinho thinks the charge is “unfair” and that he has been “angered” by the decision.

Jose Mourinho had been charged for allegedly telling “sons of b*tches” to “f*** off” in his native language. Mourinho did the swears in full view of the TV cameras after Manchester United came from behind to beat Newcastle earlier this month.

The footage was broadcast live by BT Sport, and has been used by the FA to charge the manager with ‘abusive and/or insulting and/or improper language’.

In the build-up to the game at Old Trafford, it was reported that Mourinho would be sacked regardless of the result.

His post-match message seemed to be a direct response to that, and by the following Monday he was still manager. Weird, that.

But he now faces the prospect of punishment for swearing in Portuguese, and has until 6pm on October 19 to respond to the charge.
