Armed foreigners suspected of robbery given mob justice in Westlands

Two foreigners suspected to be involved in theft were unlucky today as they almost died in the hands of angry crowd that that had them in Westlands, Nairobi before they were rescued by policemen who happened to be nearby.

The foreigners who were armed according to witnesses had robbed a premise near MP Shah hospital and as they were attempting to get away, the crowd ambushed them but luckily, police officers who were nearby managed to save them.

In a video of the incident,  several voices can be heard advising the police to solve the foreigners behavior with  with bullets as the crowd demanded for instant justice.However, the officers did not harm the two robbers but handcuffed them.

A man is  also heard shouting to the police officers that the two thugs had left a person for dead, although this hasn’t been authoritatively verified.

A new crime statistics report showed the criminal incidents had increased by 1,448 cases in the first quarter of 2018 hitting 21,263 as compared to 19,815 that were registered in 2017.

Police spokesman Charles Owino, who released the figures, stated that the country also experienced an increase in several categories of crime including offenses against morality which hit 119 cases, 152 robberies, 214 cases of stealing, 332 of dangerous drugs and 162 of other penal code offenses.

The statistics show 41 more cases of theft of motorcycles were recorded in the first three months of 2018.

Some 13,609 cases of assault were recorded in 2017 as compared to 14,558 of 2016 and 14,529 of 2015 and 791 cases of affray were reported in 2017 as compared to 892 of 2016 and 493 of 2015.

A crime report in the 2018 Economic Survey shows there were 2,774 murder incidents in 2017 compared to 2,751 in 2016, 2,648 in 2015, 2,649 in 2014 and 2,878 in 2013.

There were 2,713 robbery incidents in 2017, 2,697 in 2016 and 2,865 in 2015. Some 6,131 cases of breaking in 2017, 5,621 in 2016 and 5,591 in 2015.

Kenya is turning out to be a hot bed of foreign crime as news about dangerous foreigners in the country is streaming in plenty lately.
