Kenya’s Patrick Matasi Set For Major Ethiopia Move

Tusker goalkeeper Patrick Matasi is looking forward to signing for St. Georges of Ethiopia.

The Harambee Stars keeper was due to travel to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on Monday to seal a deal with the top club, but the journey was put on hold owing to logistical problems.

However, Matasi has now explained why his travel was delayed and remained confident that he will pen a deal with St. Georges before the end of this week.

“There was a logistical issue that delayed my travel on Monday but I will be leaving anytime from today (Tuesday), or most probably by Thursday,” Matasi, who was in goal as Kenya hammered Ethiopia 3-0 in an Afcon qualifying match, said.

The former Posta Rangers custodian is yet to concede a goal in the last three games with the national team in the ongoing Afcon qualifiers. Matasi also kept a clean in a friendly against Malawi that Kenya won 1-0.

He kept a clean sheet against Ghana at home in Kenya’s 1-0 win over the Black Stars then stood tall as Harambee Stars marched to a 3-0 victory over Ethiopia in the return leg, four days after Kenya had forced a 0-0 draw in Bahir Dar.
