Why Does President Uhuru Postpones Meeting With Musicians

President Uhuru Kenyatta has postponed his meeting with Kenyan musicians, which was planned for Tuesday October 12, to an undisclosed date.

The Government spokesperson Eric Kiraithe stated that more than 10,000 musicians are interested in attending the meeting.

According to Kiraithe, the Government needs a little more time for preparations and to reschedule in order to accommodate all the artistes.

“Due to these high numbers, we realized that the meeting should be designed in such a way that it meets the intended purpose of the president receiving fast hand concerns of Kenyan musicians,” The statement issued on Sunday stated.

Kiraithe further noted that the meeting was to be structured systematically to address to address the agendas of the day which should be meant to capture the concerns of the music industry in the country.

The meeting’s main agenda was to address the music industry’s problems.

The mandate to organise for the meeting was handed over to the Sports Ministry Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa who was tasked with comprehensively preparing a multi-sectoral event.

“The President is keen to meet the musicians at the earliest possible opportunity and therefore the ministry has been directed to expedite these preparations,” continued the statement.

The president extended the musicians invite to meet him during the burial ceremony of the legendary Joseph Kimaru.

The ceremony was attended by hundreds including the President, his deputy William Ruto and Hon. Raila Odinga.
