VIDEO: Kidnapped Billionaire’s Family Offer 1 Billion Shillings Reward For His Whereabouts

The family of Tanzanian billionaire Mohammed Dewji has offered a reward of Tsh.1 billion (Ksh.44 million) for information leading to his rescue four days after his abduction in Dar es Salaam.

In a press conference held in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, the family spokesperson Azim Dewji assured that any information forwarded to them would be treated as confidential.

“We are greatly touched by efforts by many groups and individuals to help find our son. To add to these efforts, we are announcing a reward of TSh.1 billion to any information that may lead to whereabouts,”said Mr. Azim as quoted by Tanzania’s local daily The Citizen.

Mr. Azim was flanked by Mo’s father Gullam Dewji.

The tycoon was abducted on Thursday, October 11 by two white men and an unknown number of armed accomplices who had waylaid him at the Colosseum Hotel and Fitness Club.

The kidnappers, who were in two vehicles, had arrived before Mr. Dewji and parked at the hotel.

After the businessman arrived and parked his vehicle, two of the kidnappers are said to have walked towards him and pulled him into their vehicle before speeding off.

The motive behind the abduction of the 43-year-old is still unclear even as security agencies in the neighbouring continue with a search for him. So far, more that 20 people have been arrested in connection with Mo Dewji’s abduction.
