The 100m world record-holder quit athletics last year and is yet to be offered a deal by Australia’s Central Coast Mariners, where he is currently on trial.
“So guys I’ve retired from track and field looking to become a footballer but look at this,” Bolt said Monday, via an Instagram video as he zoomed in on the notice.
The demand for the out of competition test – to collect urine and blood – appears to have been issued by Football Federation Australia.
“How am I going to get a drug test today? I’m not even a professional footballer yet. Seriously,” said Bolt.
“So I asked the lady, ‘Why am I getting drug tested when I haven’t signed for a club yet?’ and she said they told her I’m an elite athlete so I have to get tested. Okay then.”
Despite his displeasure, it appears the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority guidelines mean he is eligible to be tested.
Their legislation defines an athlete as a “person who competes in sport” if “the sport has an anti-doping policy”.
he eight-time Olympic champion, who dominated sprinting after taking double individual gold at the Beijing Olympics in 2008, is now bidding to become a professional footballer.
He made his case on Friday by scoring two goals for the Mariners in a pre-season friendly.

Bolt put the Mariners 3-0 up in the 55th minute after a strong left-footed finish, celebrating with his trademark ‘Lightning Bolt’ pose. The Jamaican then capitalized on a defensive mix-up to score his second just after the hour mark before being substituted with the score at 4-0.
Bolt expressed his concerns that Friday’s match would determine his future with the club as he strives towards winning a professional contract and a place with the Mariners for the season, which beginnings on October 19.
“I’m just happy that I got a chance and I’m proud of myself,” Bolt said after the game.
“It was a big deal… first start and scoring two goals. It was a good feeling. This is what I worked towards. I try to get better and I am on the way to doing that.
“I’m keen, that’s why I’m here to play my best and to try and get into the team,” he added. The 32-year-old previously trained with Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund.
The eight-time Olympic champion, who retired from athletics in 2017, arrived at the Mariners in August in a bid to ignite his football career.
The superstar, a massive Manchester United fan, has been handed a chance to train with the A-League side for an indefinite period in order to pursue his dream.
This notice will dim the light which was becoming bright for Bolt as he was seeking a bright future and start with the Mariners Club. This move by the Australian Football Federation places Bolt at a crossroad . Bolt might choose otherwise depending on the results that will be brought back.
