Lawyer Cliff Ombeta has called upon the High Court to release embattled Governor Okoth Obado stating that the witness interference allegations are baseless and malicious.
The lawyer asked that the prosecution produce evidence that Governor Obado had absconded Justice or was planning to do so. He further asked the prosecution to produce evidence before court that will prove that Obado has in anyway interfered with witnesses or was planning to.
Migori Governor Okoth Obado was the Milimani High Court for his bail hearing.
This was Obado’s second attempt at securing bail in the Sharon Otieno murder case.
His co-accused Michael Oyamo and Caspal Obiero were also in the dock.
On October 8, the trio pleaded not guilty to the murder of the 26-year-old university student.
Obado was arrested on September 21 and is facing charges of aiding and abetting murder.
The trio are also facing a fresh count of murder after the court allowed the prosecution to amend the charge sheet to include that of Sharon Otieno’s baby.
