Fort Ternan Killer Bus Owner’s fate to be determined by court

The owner of a Home Boyz christened Western Cross Express bus that saw 56 people perish in a grisly accident on Wednesday in Londiani, near Fort Ternan in Kericho County will know his fate on Friday.

The ill-fated accident occured along Muhoroni-Londian road on the morning of Wednesday.

A Court in Molo will determine whether police will continue to hold him.

This is after the Londiani Base commander presented an affidavit asking for more time to finish investigating the accident.

Magistrate Samuel Wahome will make a ruling whether the bus owner Cleophas Shimanyula and one of the directors of Western Cross Express Sacco which owns the fleet will remain in custody.

They will also face charges of being accessories to the killings that occurred when the overloaded bus crashed on the Londiani-Muhoroni road.

It has also emerged that the bus driver aged 72 years, was completing an 800-kilometer round trip between Kakamega and Nairobi.

Details also emerged that the driver had been temporarily hired to take the trip after the intended driver declined following the vehicle’s poor brake alignment.
