Raila Renews War with Obado?

ODM leader Raila Odinga has weight into the recent murder of young women in Kenya, terming the unfortunate events as Satanic.

While paying tribute to legendary Kikuyu musician Joseph Kamaru at his Kaharati home in Maragua, the former Prime Minister said that Kamaru didn’t preach violence.

“Tunaona wasichana wadogo wadogo wanapigwa wanauawa. Kamaru hangefanya kitu kama io. Msichana unapiga ya nini? Unaua ya nini? Mwingine wanafunga mikono yake, wanafunga mdomo yake alafu wanakata shingo. Mwingine ako na mimba. wanadunga kisu hadi wanaua mtoto ako kwa tumbo ya mamake. Si hiyo ni unyama? Kamaru hakutufunza maneno kama hayo. Wale wanashika wasichana wadogo wanaua ni shetani.”

Raila was referring to the recent murder of Sharon Otieno and Monica Kimani.

Sharon, a pregnant girlfriend to Migori Governor Okoth Obado was found murdered in a thicket in Kodera forest in Oyugis on 4th September.

An autopsy report revealed that the seven month pregnant Rongo University Student had been gang raped before being stabbed eight times. One of the stabs had penetrated her belly and killed her unborn baby.

Governor Obado has since been arrested and charged with the murder of Sharon and his unborn son. Last week, during a campaign rally in Migori, Raila said that Obado should carry his own cross.

The governor had disagreed with ODM’s decision to grand Ochillo Ayacko a direct ticket to contest for Migori Senator after the demise of Senator Ben Oluoch.

Kamaru received a hero’s send-off at his home in Kaharati home in Maragua, Murang’a county on Thursday.

The burial was attended by President Uhuru Kenyatta, DP William Ruto, leader of opposition Raila Odinga and a host of dignitaries from the entire country.

Scores of artistes, both gospel and secular, also attended Kamaru’s burial. The late popular artiste is credited with mentoring many of the said artistes.

The artistes collectively led the mourners in songs.

Thousands of fans trickled into Muthithi secondary school compound where the ceremony was held, causing a serious traffic along Kaharati-Kigumo road.

Kamaru passed away on October 3 after developing breathing complications at MP Shah Hospital where he had been admitted.

The 79-year-old musician’s career started in 1965. He was suffering from Parkinson’s disease and was in and out of hospital since last year.

Kamaru’s remains will be interred at his late second wife Teresia Wanjiku’s home. His first wife Susan Wangari lives in Kangema sub-county. He had four children.
