Manchester United forward Martial has struggled under Mourinho ever since the 55-year-old replaced Louis van Gaal two years ago.During that time, the Frenchman’s career has stagnated. While he was once billed as the future of the France national team, that mantle now belongs to Kylian Mbappe.

Manchester United boss Mourinho remains under pressure at Old Trafford despite his side’s stunning 3-2 comeback win against Newcastle at the weekend.

And the Daily Mail say Martial expects his manager’s head to roll. The player is a valuable asset to Red Devils chief Ed Woodward.

Woodward gambled on his signing three years ago, breaking the world-record for a teenager when he landed Martial from Monaco in a £36million transfer.

His current contract, though, expires next summer. Though the club do have the option to trigger a 12-month extension. The Report say Martial has told the United board he is willing to commit his future.

And that is because he does not think Mourinho will be at the club for much longer.

Ironically, though, Martial has bought his manager more time.

Prior to United’s victory against Newcastle, massive reports emerged claiming Mourinho was in line for the chop.

But Martial struck to give him a much-needed win.

United found themselves 2-0 down inside 20 minutes after Kenedy and Yoshinori Muto struck for the Toon.

Yet they were sublime in the second-half, showing imagination Old Trafford has not seen since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013. Juan Mata got them back into the game with a sublime free-kick.

And Martial then struck a terrific low effort to restore parity. He could have had the winner, too, had it not been for United team-mate Alexis Sanchez.

The Frenchman was in pole position to get on the end of Ashley Young’s pinpoint cross. But Sanchez pushed Martial out of the way to head it home and give United a much-needed three points.

Footage from Saturday shows Mourinho saying something – at one point while looking into a camera – as he headed towards the tunnel following the conclusion of the Premier League contest at Old Trafford.

The FA can issue a touchline ban if the language is found to be ‘offensive, insulting or abusive’. Speculation suggests he swore in his native Portuguese. Seems a bit harsh to punish him for that, really.

United secured victory thanks to a dramatic late fightback after going 2-0 down early on, with Juan Mata scoring in the 70th minute, Anthony Martial in the 76th and Alexis Sanchez in the 90th as their four-game winless streak in all competitions came to an end.

Ahead of the match, senior figures at the club strongly denied a report from the previous evening that Mourinho would be sacked over the weekend, regardless of the outcome of the game.

Mourinho also made a gesture with his right hand while speaking, pointing with his little finger.

The 55-year-old, who claimed after the match that he was the subject of a “manhunt”, said when asked what the gesture means: “It is a finger. Smaller than the others, but it is a finger.”
