Premier League coach to take over at Real Madrid?

The odds on Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino becoming the next manager of Real Madrid have tumbled to 3/1 as speculation about the future of current Real boss Julen Lopetegui intensifies.

By the high standards of Los Blancos, this has been a poor start to the new Lal Liga season. They have lost three and drawn one of their last four games and reports from Spain today suggest Lopetegui has only a few weeks to save his job – including a game against fierce rivals Barcelona on October 28.

The loss of Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus has also been blamed for a slide in form and captain Sergio Ramos has been vocal in criticism of his team-mates.

Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has also been backed to succeed Lopetegui who replaced Zinedine Zidane but the current favourite is former Real Madrid player Guti. Wenger is known to have plenty of admirers at Real Madrid and has rejected advances from the Spanish giants in the past.

The Frenchman has been linked with several roles since he left the Emirates but is reportedly happy to be having some time away from the game.

Two more names in the frame are former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte and ex-French international Laurent Blanc. Conte was mentioned as a potential replacement for Jose Mourinho last week and has been without a job since he left Stamford Bridge in the summer.

Lopetegui was a surprising pick as Real boss having dramatically left his role as Spain boss just days before the start of the World Cup.
