If you asked Migori governor Okoth Obado a few weeks ago where he saw himself in the next few years, he would have probably told you State house, and not in prison.

The governor was used to three course meals, served in high end dining rooms with on sophisticated cutlery.

But that is far from what he is enduring at Kenyatta National Hospital at the moment. Here Obado’s meals are Ugali, vegetables, tea and a few slices of dry bread.

He said breakfast is served at around 9am. “They bring tea and some few slices of bread. But I am comfortable with it,” Obado said
Dinner is served at 4pm, which is a reminiscent of Kenyan public primary boarding schools.

“They brought me some ugali, vegetables and oranges. I liked the oranges. Dinner was served around 4pm,” he said.
More worse for the governor is the fact that, he can’t enjoy even his meals because his left hand is chained to the frame of the bed in which he is lying. You see, nobody wants a suspected murderer on the loose.

The bed is covered by a blue mosquito net and there is a pair of red slippers probably from Bata, on the bedside.

The governor has been admitted at the hospital since Wednesday after he was taken ill at the Industrial Area prison where he was being held.

Apaternal test has since revealed that Obado was the father of the unborn baby. But the governor still maintains that he had nothing and absolutely nothing to do with the cruel death of the 26 year old Rongo University Student.

“It has been blown beyond what it should have been. As a normal human being I am hurt and it is a painful experience that you cannot wish on anyone,” said Obado.

He however stated that he is willing to deal with his current predicament. “I have accepted the circumstances I am in and I am willing to deal with them. My spirit is still strong. I will continue to serve my people (of Migori) and I hope this will end soon,” Obado said.
