Danny Welbeck is expected to follow Aaron Ramsey out of the Arsenal exit door on a free transfer. The striker is in hot-form for the Gunners and has bagged four goals so far this season.

But the 27-year-old is out of contract next summer and will be available on a free. And the Daily Mirror claim an agreement on a new deal is still not close.

Welbeck, who was linked with Galatasaray in August, will be free to talk to foreign clubs from January 1 and will have plenty of interest at home and abroad. Despite his impressive start to the campaign the ex-Manchester United ace is still struggling to secure a spot in Unai Emery’s starting XI.

Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang are both ahead of him in the pecking order. However, Arsenal will be anxious to avoid the prospect of losing another player on the cheap.

Ramsey is also out of contract in May and with no offer on the table from the Gunners, the Welshman is set to end his decade-long stint at The Emirates. Napoli and Real Madrid have both been linked with the midfielder, who could depart for a cut-price fee in January.

It would be a similar deal to how Everton lured Theo Walcott away from Arsenal in January of this year, but some aren’t so keen, hoping that the Toffees will swerve a move for Welbeck whilst praying that he will stay away from Goodison Park.

Others don’t understand how fans can say no to Welbeck as he is better than what Everton already have in attack, and hope that he will join the Toffees in January to bolster Silva’s attacking options.

Everton are “keeping tabs” on Welbeck’s contract situation, with his current deal set to expire at the end of this season.

The Gunners have failed to come to an agreement over a new deal with Aaron Ramsey, so it looks like they could be set to clean house and start fresh under the leadership of Unai Emery.

The report claims the Toffees showed interest in the 27 year-old this summer, but no official bid ever materialised.

Welbeck isn’t a world class player who is going to push Everton into the top six, but signing him for free next summer would be very shrewd business from Marco Silva and Marcel Brands.

You don’t rack up over 100 appearances for each of Manchester United and Arsenal along with 42 England caps by sheer luck, and the versatile attacker has grabbed four goals already this season.

Welbeck’s biggest strengths are his athleticism and versatility, able to use his strength, speed and tireless work rate anywhere across the front three.

His endless runs down the channels help other players find space in the attack, so starting him up front at Goodison could actually have a huge impact on Theo Walcott and Richarlison.
