According to ‘MEGA’, Gerard Pique and Lionel Messi have fallen out at Barcelona, impacting the atmosphere in the squad.

According to the Spanish television programme, “Lionel Messi and Gerard Piqué don’t talk at all any more.”

The tension between the two mainstays of the Valverde team has been reported to be growing, and it could get even worse if the results don’t go their way.

According to the programme, Piqué doesn’t appreciate it when Lionel Messi doesn’t speak to the media despite it being a part of his role as captain, especially given the difficulties faced by the team in recent times.

“Pique doesn’t like Messi not going to defend his team when they have bad results. He would say that Messi only speaks when he is not in Europe, when he is in Argentina,” says the Spanish programme.

Piqué is believed to have put these criticisms to Messi’s face. However, the Argentine is believed to have responded by telling him that criticising the defender, namely in the number of goals Barcelona have conceded recently.

Barcelona are in the midst of a crisis due to three consecutive games without a win, and this seems to have an increasingly negative impact on the behaviour of Ernesto Valverde’s players.

After a draw against Girona, another against Athletic Bilbao and a defeat against Leganes, the situation seems more tense than ever in Barcelona, and the players seem to be starting to put pressure on each other.

Kane Wants to Outshine Messi

Harry Kane is desperate to outshine Lionel Messi at Wembley — and then start chasing the Barcelona superstar’s records.

The Argentine has already found the back of the net eight times this season, in comparison with Kane’s five thus far.

The England captain has some way to go to match Messi’s 500 career goals, but he is determined to try and get there. “He set the standard, he and Cristiano Ronaldo gone above the normal standard, when they are scoring 50 or 60 goals a season,” said Kane.

“As a striker I want to try and match that. He’s definitely set the standard for the rest of us and he still is.

“It motivates me to get even better and improve and hopefully one day score as many, if not more, than he has.

Hugo Lloris could return to action against Barcelona on Wednesday. AFP

“It’s a great test for us. As players you want to play against best in world and Messi is certainly that, a fantastic player, and we will do our best to stop him.

“We got off to a great start last season, beating Dortmund at home. It was not so great to lose to Inter this time around.

“We’ve got to prove we can beat the best teams in the world and we need to do that against Barcelona.”
