Jurgen Klopp has played down any worries that there might be among Liverpool fans after Virgil van Dijk limped out of the game against Southampton.

The Dutch defender took a hit in the chest, where he was already suffering from a bruised rib, and was substituted at half-time.

“He already had a bruise in the ribs before the PSG game, which is very uncomfortable and he got another hit there,” Klopp said.

“It’s not cool but should not be too serious. It should be absolutely OK, hopefully. I didn’t hear anything different.”

Liverpool won the game 3-0 with all goals coming in the first half. An own goal was added to by Joel Matip and Mo Salah.
