Nonini lands huge Safaricom role

Popular Kenyan rapper Nonini has partnered with Safaricom as their data brand ambassador for the next six months.

The contract, which was signed last Thursday at the Michael Joseph Centre, is geared at both creativity and community impact.

The rapper will use his skills as an artiste to market Safaricom data, which is a very popular product of theirs.

The rapper, real name Hubert Nakitare, expressed his gratitude as well as his expectations under the partnership.

He attributed his appointment to his consistency in the music industry, as well as his foundation Colour Kwa Face, which seeks to support albinism in Kenya.

“This partnership is meant to open a new chapter to show artistes how they can make themselves a brand. It is important for them to know that they can go beyond their music. I hope that it will open up opportunities for corporate to endorse artistes,” said the Furahi Day hit maker.

Charles Kare, Head of Consumer Segments with Safaricom said that the partnership is in line with some of Safaricom’s visions of supporting local artistes and encouraging diversity.

“We are very big on Kenyan talents and arts as you can see from projects like Twaweza. This contract seeks to push the idea of both brands and to support Nonini’s foundation by telling its story in an authentic way. Safaricom is big on supporting diversity, which means we have a common platform,” he said.
