Arsenal likely to be without one star for Everton clash

Arsenal are assessing Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s fitness ahead of Sunday’s game against Everton at the Emirates.

The attacking midfielder started Thursday night’s Europa League game against FC Vorskla and set up two goals during the 4-2 victory, while also playing a big role in another.

Mkhitaryan completed the full 90 minutes in the win, Arsenal’s fourth in succession in all competitions, but the club have now revealed he picked up an ankle problem during the game.

The former Manchester United man will now be monitored by the club’s medical staff before a decision is made on whether he can feature against Everton at the weekend.

Arsenal’s latest medical update is as follows:

Henrikh Mkhitaryan
“Right ankle from Vorskla match on Thursday. Currently being assessed ahead of Sunday’s match against Everton.”

Sead Kolasinac
“Left knee injury. Progressing well and now expected to return to full training in early October. (Initially aiming to return during the month of October).”

Ainsley Maitland-Niles
“Small fracture to left fibula. Progressing well and now expected to return to full training in early October. (Initially aiming to return to training in November).”

Carl Jenkinson
“Significant sprain to right ankle. Progressing well and now expected to return to full training in early October. (Initially aiming to return during the month of October).”

Laurent Koscielny 

“Right Achilles tendon repair. Started working outside. Aiming to return to full training in November.”

There was also an injury concern surrounding Lucas Torreira after the midfielder was in the wars during Thursday’s win against Vorskla in north London.

Torreira needed treatment twice during the game and after being substituted in the second half, he watched the remainder of the match with an ice pack strapped to his leg.
