Why Prince William’s Visit is important to Kenya

The Duke of Cambridge, Prince William, will visit Kenya on September 30 as part of a tour of Africa.

In Kenya, the Duke of Cambridge will visit the British Army Training Unit Kenya (BATUK) in Nanyuki, Laikipia County, on September 30.

Prince William will see how British and Kenyan troops train together to improve operations with the intention that both countries will benefit from it.

The Kenyan Army will be among those who will be training under the  British Army Training Unit Kenya (BATUK) and improving the armies operation will hopefully boost the security in our country.

Prince William has also shown great interest in matters of security as well as tourism. This is evident from his  previous visit to Kenya in March 2016 where he met President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House in Nairobi County, and they discussed matters including security and tourism.

He also expressed  his concern in regard to poaching, strongly showing disapproval. His statement is relevant in Kenya as a result of  the recent poaching cases in Kenya. In his words he said, “Too many brave rangers are tragically killed each year by poachers. Communities see their tourist livelihoods threatened. And the proceeds of the illegal wildlife trade fund broader criminal networks and threaten security.”

His address towards this matter could possibly  cause an impact in improving the tourism and wildlife sector in our country.

Kenya receiving this sense of support from one of the royals is very important because it may also boost our economy in the lines of improving tourist attractions centers by reducing poaching cases.

In his last visit in 2016, Britain’s Prince William pledged support Thursday for Kenya’s efforts to stem poaching in the east African nation and most likely this upcoming visit might turn out to be a win for Kenya with the hope that it will be of great value.
