Sakaja reveals more details on Pumwani Hospital

Speaking during a  press conference today,  in regard Pumwani saga, Nairobi senator Johnson Sakaja stated a number of things. This was done shortly after the Senate Health Committee and that of National Security visited Pumwani Maternity Hospital on a fact-finding mission days after Sonko’s impromptu visit and discovery of infant bodies at the facility.

“There are things that we have seen and we have said that we will investigate further as a senate. We will involve the governor CEC and all the concerned to ensure that those residing in Nairobi get the health services they deserve.

This matter is being taken very seriously by the senate- The quality of healthcare that we are giving our mothers and sisters is completely wanting! ” He said

He also said that  the babies that died deserve dignity indicating that there are some facilities required – such as the cold room storage within Pumwani hospital.

With the  understanding  that Pumwani is a hospital and deaths occur, the numbers are too high! and this is why it raises  a lot of concern and suspicion.

Sakaja completed his statement by saying that a follow up will be done  so that they may find out whether the money allocated in Nairobi is enough.
