Facts behind the deportation of Chinese nationals

 

The arrests and subsequent deportation of foreigners intensified in July after a directive from Interior CS Fred Matiang’i over illegal immigrants. Following his orders that those found without proper documents be deported.This move is prompted by Kenya seeks to eliminate all criminal networks, which are a serious threat to both the national and international security.

The government has boosted its efforts n this regard, a mega-project which will serve as one of Interpol’s global early warning systems is ongoing in Nairobi. The project aims at expanding Africa’s technical ability to counter major security threats.

In a memo released  few  days ago, Cabinet Secretary  disclosed that most economic crimes are linked to illegal travel papers, but assured Kenyans that they are unstoppable in this fight.

“Apart from streamlining our immigration laws, we’re also in hot pursuit of wanted fugitives to bring them to justice in line with the international criminal law.” He said

In relation to this, 15 Chinese nationals have been arrested in Nairobi earlier today on suspicion that they were engaging in prostitution.

According to the Immigration Department, the foreigners were discovered at a brothel in South C estate.

“They are being processed for deportation,” according to a tweet from the Immigration Department reads.
