Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino caused a stir on Social Media with his latest Facebook Profile picture. The outspoken politician uploaded a photo of himself at his office holding a World Boxing belt. It is believed that the belt is the World Bantamweight Championship recently won by Kenya female boxer Fatuma Zarika.
Zarika took on Yamileth Mercado of Mexico in the World Boxing Council (WBC) World Super Bantamweight battle at KICC, Nairobi.
Zarika sought to defend the title she won by unanimous decision against Zambian Catherine Phiri last year in Nairobi. She garnered a total of 290 points to retain the title against her strong challenger who managed 280 points. Zarika got 94′, 97′ and 99′ points respectively while Yamileth got 96′, 93′ and 91′ points in the same order as per the three judges who presided over the fight.

Babu Owino and his Starehe counterpart Charles Njagua (Jaguar) once exchanged blows at Parliament media centre last year.The two MPs fought before they were separated by Parliament staff. The reasons behind the fight remain unknown to date but with Babu Owino’s photo with the WBC belt, the two can at-least have a valid reason to trade new blows.
