Days after president Uhuru Kenyatta rejected a bill to delay the implementation of the 16 % levy imposed on all petroleum products, his proposal has continued to draw mixed reactions.
Despite the assurance given to Kenyans by Uhuru that their taxes will be used well. Critics do not seem to support this move.
According to Kenyatta,in his memorandum, he proposes to increase the resources available to the institutions entrusted to fight corruption.
Some Kenyans have shown a great disappointment and dissatisfaction to that announcement and it appears quite obvious that they are surprised by those who support the move.
MESSAGE TO PRESIDENT UHURU KENYATTA:
“That Bill as you’ve sent it, we’re going to send it back to you in State House. And whether you sign it or not, it will become law. We’re saying zero application of VAT on petroleum products because it will affect the cost of living.” pic.twitter.com/mrZA20WXME

#TheBoldPresident is irrelevant. Hatuwezi kuwa blinded na proposal ya 50%, @UKenyatta abolish this animal called 16% VAT once and for all. That’s when you will be bold.

Even with leaders and citizens strongly opposing the proposal and demanding 0 vat to fuel products the decision will be made in parliament by the Members of Parliament later this week.
