Another Kenyan Marathoner Misses Medal After Car Hits Him

Another Kenyan marathoner Joseph Kiprono was on Sunday knocked down by  car during a half-marathon race in Colombia in which he was leading.

Kiprono, a previous winner of the event, was leading the 21 kilometre (13 mile) race in second-city Medellin when he was struck by a car that authorities said had “violated a road closure.”

After being treated by medics on the spot, he was taken to hospital with cuts and bruises and later reported by doctors to be in good condition.

On Sunday Kenya shined in the Olympics as Eliud Kipchoge broke a new world record by winning the BMW Olympics in Germany within a time period of 2:1:39.

The record was being held by Dennis Kimetto who broke it in 2014 by winning within a time count of 2:2:57.

Kiprono ran the race alongside Daniel Muindi, who won the race with a time of 1:03:45.
