News that Safaricom have introduced Free WhatsApp on their latest data plan have not gone down well with their subscribers.
Safaricom announced on its Twitter handle on Friday that it had listened to the needs of its customers and introduced the Free WhatsApp where people can continue chatting even after the depletion of their bundles.
We have listened. Get more from our new data bundles and continue to WhatsApp even when your bundle runs out. #TuendeleeKuChat pic.twitter.com/JQ1Y2fK69e

But a section of Kenyans believe this is pure crap, their bundles are still very expensive and their is no way the company listened to the needs of their clients.
NO. You didn’t listen or pay attention to your customers at all. Can you do a twitter poll and see what your clients need? The 1GB at 99/- should have been changed to 2GB at 99/-, then add free whatsapp and facebook or twitter. #tuendeleekuchat na @AIRTEL_KE ama @FaibaJTL

Hawk-eyed Kenyans also revealed that in the new data plan, Ksh 100 gives you only 500MBs of Data unlike previously when it was 1GB. Airtel offers 2GB of data for the same amount.
Safaricom have lost a huge number of clients to Airtel and Telkom and it seems the latest plan will not lure them back. Kenyans have publicly vowed to use Safaricom for MPESA services only.
Here is what Kenyans are saying:
Who still uses safaricom data when we have much better packages from @AIRTEL_KE @FaibaJTL and @TelkomKenya. Wakenya wacheni ujinga!

Refuse to board! This is a scam. So now from 1Gb at 99bob to 500mb at 99bob.

This is a total crap. Not was we were expecting. Will still stick to @TelkomKenya they have 2gb+free whatsup at ksh 100.
