Manchester United star Rashford has endured a difficult two years at Old Trafford since Mourinho took the job. The England international burst onto the scene under Louis van Gaal in 2016, shining as a centre-forward and firing the club to FA Cup glory.
However, his Manchester United career has nosedived recently with the player stuck on the wing – with Romelu Lukaku often picked up top.
Mourinho has praised Rashford’s attitude during his time in charge but the 20-year-old is yet to kick on. He was also sent-off on Sunday for a headbutt on Phil Bardsley during their 2-0 win over Burnley.
And the Daily Mail say Rashford is currently stalling on a new United contract, with his current deal expiring in 2020. The player is supposedly keen for assurances over his role in the team.
United appeared to hint at his importance when they gave him the No 10 shirt previously worn by club legends such as Wayne Rooney, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Denis Law.
But Rashford has started just one of their first four Premier League matches so far.
The Daily Mail add the forward is stalling because three players are above him in the pecking order.
As mentioned above, Lukaku is often given the nod up top.
But Rashford has also failed to oust close friend Jesse Lingard and Alexis Sanchez from Mourinho’s starting XI.
