Bad for Manchester City: Raheem Sterling’s exit threat

The issue of Raheem Sterling’s Man City future has been analysed this week on the Transfer Window Podcast. Journalists Duncan Castles and Ian McGarry offer the insight in the weekly audio show.

Sterling, 23, is under contract at Man City until 2020.

Over the last few months, it’s been reported that Man City are keen on wanting to lock Sterling down to a new long term deal.

According to Duncan Castles, Raheem Sterling is focused on agreeing the biggest financial deal possible with his next contract:

Raheem Sterling and his representative Ady Ward are seek to get the maximum salary possible out of Manchester City.

Their argument is that he’s the most important homegrown player in the squad.

Sterling has history when it comes to forcing a move if he feels like he isn’t being paid appropriately.

Having talked to people who have spoken to Sterling about his long term goals in football, there is no sense with Sterling that he sees Man City as being his long term career choice.

How will Man City react to Sterling’s financial demands?

The argument was forwarded that Man City’s owners may not bend to Sterling’s requests. That could mean the England international needs to see out his contract with the Sky Blues before he can leave the club on a free transfer.

However, as reported by Sky Sports before the World Cup, Man City’s effort to agree a deal with Sterling have so far failed to produce results.

It’s now been asserted that Sterling may be looking for a way out of the Etihad.
