5 Players who could win the Golden Boot in this season: Know who

Harry

The Premier League started almost a month ago and the usual title favourites like Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea have begun their campaign very well. Meanwhile, Manchester United and Arsenal have experienced some hiccups and need to get back on track before they slip behind. The race for the Golden Boot is also on and the foremost strikers in the league would already be having an eye on the elusive prize. Liverpool’s Mohammed Salah won the Golden Boot last year and should be among the favourites to win it this year, too. He faces competition from the strikers at other big clubs as well.

he EPL is a fast-paced league and so the strikers almost always get a continuous supply of crosses and through-balls. Also, the English clubs do not usually give too much emphasis on the defensive aspect of the game, so we get to see a lot of high-scoring games in the league. We have already seen City score six past Huddersfield and Liverpool score four against West Ham this season, and much of the same should follow.

1 Sergio Aguero (Manchester City)

The veteran Sergio Aguero is among the favourites to win the Golden Boot this season. He is already one of the legends of the Premier League after having spent seven very successful seasons at Manchester City. Aguero has scored more than 200 goals in almost 300 matches for City and that tally should further increase this season. He scored 21 goals in the Premier League last season and was among the leading goal scorers.

2 Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)

The Egyptian star won the Golden Boot and the FA player of the year award in a phenomenal 2017-18 season. He scored a staggering 32 goals in the league and is already off the mark this season as well.

Salah primarily plays on the right-wing for Liverpool and likes to cut in from the flank;.l and take shots at the goal. He also has the ability to dribble past defenders or volley in an aerial cross. All those traits make him a complete forward and a constant worry for the opposition defenders.

3 Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur)

Harry Kane, the captain of the English national team, won the Silver Boot last season by scoring 30 goals in the league. He has already scored 3 goals in 4 matches in the current season. Kane is very well-suited for a physical league like the EPL, as his height and strength allows him to overpower opposition defenders at times.

Moreover, he usually takes penalties for the Spurs and that ensures some extra goals every season. Kane has been very successful for Spurs in the last five years and scored more than 150 goals for them.

4 Romelu Lukaku (Manchester United)

Romelu Lukaku has seen a meteoric rise in his career in the last few seasons. He moved to Manchester United from Everton last season and managed to score 19 goals in the league. He has scored a couple in the first four matches in the current season and should be among the contenders to win the Golden Boot.

5 Sadio Mane (Liverpool)

Mane is part of a brilliant triumvirate in the Liverpool attack with Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino. He scored 10 goals in the league last season and should considerably improve on his tally this season. He has already notched up four goals in four matches in the current season and looks to be in great form.

Mane plays primarily on the left wing for Liverpool but is capable of playing on either side. He is a consummate dribbler and has an eye for the goal. He has got a very decent shot in him as well as a knack of scoring goals form the edge of the penalty box.
