Alexandre Lacazette says he and his Arsenal teammates “are learning like children” under the management of Unai Emery.

Emery was appointed Arsenal manager in the summer, replacing Arsene Wenger after the Frenchman’s 22-year reign was brought to an end.

The Gunners have quickly set about establishing themselves as the Premier League’s accidental entertainers, with a 3-2 victory over Cardiff neatly summarising both their strengths and weaknesses.

A first clean sheet under Unai Emery has not yet been achieved with Petr Cech starting ahead of summer signing Bernd Leno.

Cech was again shaky against Cardiff, asked to pass out from the back again but conceding possession twice to give Cardiff huge goalscoring opportunities.

But Lacazette says such mistakes are inevitable while Arsenal “are learning like children”.

“We learn a lot but the manager says if we do this kind of thing [defensive mistakes] we can concede a goal,” Lacazette said.

“We did make mistakes because we are learning like children. So it is OK, it is good. We will be better week after week.

“Overall it has been good even though we had two losses. They were against the two champions of the past two seasons. The quality of the games, it is good. Everyone can take pleasure to watch us play.

“This season we want to be better away and it was the first game we won and I hope it will the first of many until the last day of the season. It is good and important to win away.

“It is not because of one game that I will play every game – every day I have to work hard. I am at one of the best clubs in the world and I know to be in the first XI is hard. I must keep fighting.”
