Fresh Details Emerge on the Mysterious Death of David Mwai

Something is not adding up in the mysterious death of David Mwai, who is said to have hanged himself in a police cell at Parklands police station.

Mwilu was a key suspect in the attempted murder of former Garissa County Finance executive Idrissa Mukhtar.

The suspect had been arrested alongside three other people, after police reviewed a CCTV footage extracted from surveillance cameras in the home of Idris Mukhtar, who is currently admitted at the Intensive Care Unit at a Nairobi hospital.

According to police, Mwai used clothes to hang himself. A police officer who was at the report desk said he heard noises from the cells and assumed the suspects were singing. A few minutes later, he said, the other suspects banged on the cell door, demanding his attention.

He went to the cell and found Mwai hanging from the window with clothes tied around his neck. But something is not just adding up in the whole scenario and it looks like Mwai was murdered in order for someone to cover up their tracks.

Some of the officers at the station were, however, not convinced that the prime suspect had committed suicide. “He might as well have been killed. We will see more drama in this case,” one of them said. Mwai and his accomplices had confessed to the attempted murder and were said to have named the key players in the assassination plot and the amount he was paid to do the job.

Activist Boniface Mwangi has revealed that there was no way someone can hang themselves at the Parklands police cells since the windows are too high.

‘Here is a video l shot inside Parklands Police cell. The windows are so high, there is no way anyway can hang themselves, you can’t even tie a noose.’ Mwangi said through his Twitter handle and went ahead to post a video of the cells.

Mwangi also revealed that Mwai was arrested with his wife Rabecca Ajila on Monday by the Flying Squad. But there have been no details about Rabecca’s whereabouts since then. The deceased called his family and told them to urgently trace the wife.

According to Boniface Mwangi, Police at Parklands were hired to murder David Mwai by a very powerful individual who does not want to be implicated in the attempted murder of the former county official. Before his death, Mwai was supposed to be a state witness in the case.
