Governor Waiguru reveals she is worth less than Ksh.300M

Kirinyaga County Governor Anne Waiguru has finally revealed  her net worth.

While speaking on Jeff Koinange Live TV show Governor Waiguru, said that she was worth less that Ksh 300 million.

The revelation came days after research company IPSOS Synovate released a report that showed Governor Waiguru ranked second most coprrupt person in Kenya after Deputy President William Ruto.

While speaking to  Jeff the county Chief said, “Let’s assume I’m the most corrupt and therefore I have acquired a lot of money from government which I am now using and so my value should be several billion shillings, isn’t it?”

Following her response former Devolution Cabinet secretary said,  Waiguru said, “It (IPSOS poll) is as ridiculous as it can be; the people you’re being ranked with are multi-billionaires… I haven’t even reached Ksh.300 million in terms of worth.”

The governor further stated that the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) had done a lifestyle audit on her and she wouldn’t mind the results being made public.

She further added saying, “They (EACC) swept my house… they’ve done a lifestyle audit on me for over a year, they can also make that public.”

Waiguru further added that she supports the lifestyle audit as directed by President Uhuru Kenyatta on all public officials “150%.”

She also denied media reports about owning property along Luthuli Avenue, a hotel in Taita by the lake, estates in Karen, a building on Ngong Road, 2000 acres of land in Nanyuki, buses and matatus, as well as buildings in Murang’a.

She, however, acknowledged owning a house in Kihingo where she lives, and a house in Runda – that she stated she owned before joining government – among other pieces of property.

“I have a small property on Mombasa – Mlolongo Road which I’ve had for a long time, half an acre in Lukenya and another half acre with a rentable place in Sagana. That’s it,” said Waiguru.
