Moses Kuria Calls Joho’s Visit to Mzee Moi ‘Moral Bankruptcy’

Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho’s Saturday courtesy visit to former President Daniel Moi at his Kabarak home has irked Gatundu South Member of Parliament (MP) Moses Kuria.

In a message sent out on his Facebook account, Kuria expressed his disappointment with the visit.

Kuria sent out a video of Joho and the coast leaders visiting Moi captioned “My heart bleeds. Pure moral bankruptcy”.

Although the legislator did not elaborate the source of his disappointment, a sneak peek at the reactions by netizens on his post gives a glimpse of what may have rattled Kuria.

A section of Kenyans for instance opined that Baringo Senator Gideon Moi was using the ex-president for his political gain.

“Old man been turned to tourist attraction. Why are people not visiting Mwai Kibaki? Yet he left a living legacy,” one Jeff Mutai posed.

Another netizen, Daudi Kiplangat, added: “You are spot on mheshimiwa. Visits to former president Moi should be private. Gideon Moi has completely lost the plot”.

“He’s been campaigning in his dad’s living room for 3 years,” Teddy Kimani quipped.

Others, however, rubbished Kuria’s sentiments indicating that the MP should keep off the matters and let the leaders to do as they wish.

In particular, some connected his discountenance with an unfortunate incident where Deputy President William Ruto, a close ally of Kuria, was denied access to Moi at Kabarak.

“It pains you Kuria so much that you and your hustler never got a chance to visit Mzee Moi” one Zack Aswani indicated.

In a statement sent out after a contingent of leaders from the Coast visited Moi, Joho noted: “A nation rarely gets the opportunity to look back and fix its divisions. History is full of countries that have gone down the wrong path.” Joho noted.

Joho further thanked Raila and Uhuru for calling to truce their perceived political enmity for the sake of the country.

“Through the grace of God and wisdom of Raila and Uhuru, we now have a unique opportunity to change the future of this country. A chance to nurture a more fair, just and caring society for our children,” the ODM deputy party leader added.

“I urge all Kenyans of goodwill to embrace this second chance of building a new Kenya,” the Mombasa Governor rallied support for the Uhuru-Raila deal.

President Moi has been recuperating at his Kabarak home after he underwent a successful knee injury in March 2018 in Tel Aviv, Israel.
