Painful! How Real Madrid Humiliated Chelsea Star

Despite having lost Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus this summer and having yet to replace him, it would appear that Real Madrid’s summer business is completed. Spanish radio show ‘El Transistor’ claims that Chelsea star Willian offered his services to the European champions recently, only to be turned down on the spot.

The aforementioned source claims that Real Madrid received a phonecall from Willian’s agent several days ago, informing them of their client’s interest in swapping London for Madrid before the closing of the summer transfer window.

The Brazilian was heavily linked with a move to Barcelona earlier this summer, only for the Catalan side to eventually turn to Bordeaux forward Malcom due to the compliactions involved in completeing a deal for the Chelsea man.

In the words of journalist David Alonso, Real Madrid politely told Willian’s representative: “Thank you, but he’s not the kind of player we’re looking for at the moment.”

A short phrase but one that could have a major impact on both Chelsea and Real Madrid as the season unfolds.

Along with the fact that ‘Los Blancos’ aren’t actively searching for a winger, there is also a theory that Chelsea’s high demands for the player could also have contributed to the lack of interest, with the English side understood to be demanding around €80m.

Willian isn’t the only player to have been offered to Real Madrid in recent days, with widespread reports that the club had also been contacted by the agent of Monaco forward Radamel Falcao, but Madrid’s response was the same in both cases: “Thanks, but no thanks.”
