Spanish Sources have set off alarm bells for Chelsea fans on Tuesday morning. That’s after Marca have announced that the two Madrid clubs, Real and Atletico, are both trying to sign Marcos Alonso.

Marcos Alonso made his Spanish international debut before the 2018 World Cup. Could the 27-year-old now leave Chelsea to move to Madrid before the Spanish transfer window closes at the end of the month? Marca claim that Real Madrid view the Blues left-back as a long-term successor for Marcelo.

As for Atletico, the Rojiblancos have targeted Alonso to replace Felipe Luis. Luis could be on his way to PSG, apparently. Marca note that Chelsea have not put a price tag on Alonso, who is under contract at Stamford Bridge until 2021. Yet the Spanish news outlet believed Alonso could be sold for 30 million euros.

One has to assume that the Blues would bat away any offer for Marcos Alonso, should it arrive. Alonso was one of Chelsea’s best players last season.

Maurizio Sarri has evolved Chelsea into a 4-3-3 formation at the start of the Premier League season. Alonso has started both league games for the Blues so far, and his contributions have been significant.

Last weekend, for example, Alonso scored Chelsea’s winner against Arsenal. Chelsea did sign Emerson Palmieri from Roma back in January. But there’s been little evidence to suggest that Emerson could usurp Alonso in Chelsea’s XI.
