According to a leaked video released on YouTube, Waititu can be heard telling Sonko to release the wife and her constructors but Sonko only agreed to release Wangare asking the Kiambu boss to contact State House for the rest.
Sonko then orders a Mr. Ochanda on phone to release the First Lady on a Ksh.10,000 bond but directs that she gets an approval before she can continue with the construction.
The video has elicited different reactions from Kenyans with most of them saying Sonko preaches water but drinks wine on matters fighting impunity in the city.
Here are some of the reactions from Kenyans.
The leaked conversation between Sonko and Waititu over the release of Susan Wangare is just a reminder of how far from reality the rule of law is in Kenya. IMMUNITY FOR IMPUNITY !

Nairobi governor Mike Sonko, in that video, tells his Kiambu counterpart Waititu on wife Susan Wangare: “Ona, ona, unajua mimi Nairobi nimekaliwa na order inatoka juu,” (You see, in Nairobi I have been sat on … the order is from above). Nani anakalia governor?

That video of Sonko telling Waititus wife that she will be released but he can’t help the rest clearly shows wanyonge hawana haki. How is he going to fight cartels and corruption when he is out here saving his corrupt circle?

Here is part of the conversation.
Sonko: “Your excellency, nimeachilia mama, atawachiliwa. (Your wife will be released)”
Waititu: Niwachilie watu wote Sonko bana, wewe unakumbuka vile tumesumbuka Nairobi na wewe na bado tunaenda mbali… (Just release everyone, we have suffered together in Nairobi and we are going far.)
Sonko, however refused to release the others as Waititu had asked claiming “powers from above” which in the course of the conversation meant President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Sonko: Hao wengine pigia mdosi mimi wacha niwachilie mama. (For the others, call the boss, let me release the wife)
Waititu: Waachilia watu wote (Release everyone)
Sonko: Hiyo ni order from above, mimi nawachilia mama amevunja sheria, hiyo order haitoki kwangu, inatoka kwa mdosi huko juu, pigia mdosi.
Waititu: Ateee? Nimpigie mdosi wa nini na wewe ndio governor… (Why should I call him and you’re the governor?)
The Nairobi boss also advised his Kiambu counterpart to stop blithering and differing with the President.
Mama namwachilia saa hii but hao wengine wewe pigia mdosi. (That is an order from above, I am breaking the law by releasing the wife but that is not my order, just call the boss)
Waititu: Hapana, Hapana, mimi na deal na wewe tu… (I just want to deal with you)
Sonko: Pigia basi Waita, Nairobi nimekaliwa, order imetoka juu. (Call (Nzioka) Waita, I have no powers in Nairobi, the order came from above)
Waititu: Wachana na mdosi, wewe ndio unanisaidia sio hawa… Sisi hawezi sumbuana na wewe.
