Sergio Ramos bitter over Zidane’s departure

Zinedine Zidane’s exit from Real Madrid at the end of last season left a ‘bitter taste’ for captain Sergio Ramos, the defender has admitted.

The Frenchman surprisingly left Los Blancos in the aftermath of securing his third successive Champions League title in May and the Spain international expressed his ‘infinite gratitude’.

“This season with Real Madrid has been one full of shadows, it is true, but also with a great light,” Ramos wrote, as cited by Marca.

“The domestic competitions choked us but to return to win the Champions League for the third successive season was a historic achievement.

“Zidane leaving left a bitter taste but everyone is free to make their own decisions and we have infinite gratitude to our Coach.”
