Toby Alderweireld wary of Harry Kane threat

Belgium defender Toby Alderweireld has said that his side will be prepared to stop Harry Kane’s goal threat when the teams clash on Thursday.

The England striker netted a hat-trick in a 6-1 win over Panama on Sunday to take his tally of goals at the World Cup to five.

Tottenham Hotspur teammate Alderweireld admitted that it is “difficult” to stop the Three Lions striker, adding that Roberto Martinez’s charges will have to be “tough” in defence.

“I know his strength, of course. But his strength is that he’s good at everything. He’s quick, he’s strong, left foot, right foot, headers,” the centre-back told the Evening Standard.

“It’s so difficult to stop him. That’s what I know. As a team, we have to be tough [in order] to beat him.

“He just breathes football. He wants to improve, improve, improve. He’s not only a goal-scorer. He works so hard for the team. He’s available to help the plays. He’s the all-round striker.”

The winners of Group G will be decided on each team’s disciplinary record, should Thursday’s tie end in a draw
