New Mathare United signing speaks on his newest adventure

New Mathare United signing David Okello is thrilled at joining the Slum Boys.

Okello was confirmed this morning as the second signing of the club and the custodian is praising the playing system at Mathare as very usual to him. He is open to accept the huge expectations that come with his signing adding that he is ready to lead the other young goalkeepers. The departure of Wycliffe Kasaya and Robert ‘Boban’ Mboya means that Okello will battle with youngsters Emmanuel Otieno and Job Ochieng for goalkeeping duties.

“It feels great to be back at home. The environment is familiar because I have played with some players here and also the system is one that I am used to. A lot is expected of me being the senior but they are young talented keepers who are ready to learn. Leading such a group is easy because they are hungry for success,” Okello told the club’s website.

With Gor Mahia topping the league table with ten more points than the Slum Boys, Okello reveals that they will only catch up with them if they find the winning strategy once again.

“It is possible. We just need to get our winning touch and push them as much as we can. You cannot rule out our chances with more than ten matches to go,” said Okello.
