Croatia backed to star under Dalic

Josip Skoko has backed Zlatko Dalic to take Croatia far in Russia.

Croatia won both of their first matches beating Nigeria 2-0 and later disappointing Argentina and Lionel Messi by mercilessly beating them 3-0. They have already sealed their slot in the round of 16.

Skokko and Dalic were midfielders at Hajduk Split in the 1990s alongside Ivan Strinic and Danijel Subasic. Dalic was appointed Croatia’s head coach last October and later signed a contract that will see him in charge of the football team until 2020.

“He’s very much an organizer, really good talker. He’s quiet, he’s not a loud character. But he knows what he’s doing and as soon as they appointed him, because he wasn’t really a known coach over here, I just said to people that he’s a smart guy. I didn’t really know what sort of path his coaching had taken, but I know he’s a very smart character who knows his football. I sort of thought immediately it was an interesting appointment and that he’d do well,” Skoko told Omnisport.
