Everton will not have another Spending Spree

Everton’s recently-appointed director of football Marcel Brand has revealed that the club will not have another spending spree like the one they had last summer in which Ronald Koeman spend 200 million pounds on transfers.

“No. First of all we need to offload players to raise money, and also salary-wise.” Brand answered when he was asked if the club was embarking on another transfer spree.

He said that new coach Marco Silva needs to reduce the squad from the current 38 first team players.

“We have to look for a squad Marco can work with and I think there always has to be space for young players to come to the first team.

“That has to be, let’s say, 25-30 players. Now there are 38 and a lot are not young any more. They are players who have arrived. We have to be honest when we take the decision with these players.”
