England and Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson has said that the Three Lions can “do a Leicester” and shock the world in Russia this month.
Speaking at England’s press day at St George’s Park, where all 23 players were up for interview in a Super Bowl style event, Henderson said England could upset the odds and surprise a few people in the tournament, just as Leicester did when they won the Premier League title two years ago.
“There have been a lot of upsets in sport – no disrespect but look at when Leicester won the Premier League, not a lot of the people at the start of the season would have said they could have done that,” he said.
“And that is just one instance, really. You have got to have belief in the group all the time and believe you can reach the heights.”
