Win clean! Gor Mahia to face doping test

Africa’s soccer governing body CAF will conduct a random doping test on Gor Mahia and USM Alger players immediately after their group stage encounter against USM Alger.

CAF has confirmed that this is a basic requirement for all players and will be conducted by official Dr. Mustafa Mofty. The doctor will then submit the report on the select players.

“We conduct such tests to keep the game clean and promote its good name. There should be openness and fairness and this is one way of promoting such,” Mofty told was quoted by Gor Mahia website at Kasarani.

“The process is simple – two players and officials from both sides will head to the doping room where a random draw of shirt numbers will be done with just 15 minutes to the final whistle. The picked players will then head straight to the doping room immediately after the match for the urine test to be conducted and results are known at a later date.” Gor statement added.

Gor is targeting to take advantage of the home ground to claim an early stake into within the group but the absence of Rwandan hitman Meddie Kagere has slightly deflated momentum. Ivorian Ephraim Guikan would probably feel the void.
