Club vs country row : AFC say no to FKF demands

Kenyan Premier League have turned down a request from Football Kenya Federation to postpone Saturday’s battle between AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia, which eventually led a rift between club and country.

FKF had written to KPL requesting that the battle is shelved so as to allow AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia players turn out for the national team Harambee Stars in friendly matches against Swaziland and Equatorial Guinea.

But in a strong worded statement released by AFC who are the home team for the tie, they have insisted that the game will go on and furthermore will not release their three players for national duty.
