Raila Sends Clear Message To Uhuru Ahead of Kibra Election

ODM leader Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta

Raila Odinga on Friday sent a message to President Uhuru Kenyatta after he snubbed Jubilee Kibra candidate Macdonald Mariga during the Precious Talent Requiem Mass at Ngong Racecourse.

The ODM leader while addressing the crowd gathered at the solemn event, failed to recognise Mariga who was among the dignitaries that had attended the ceremony.

While giving his speech, the veteran politician introduced ODM Kibra Candidate Imran Okoth stating that he is the choice for the people of Kibra.

“Si mmesema Kibra ni kwangu? Candidate ndiye huyu.” remarked Raila while presenting Imran.

The gesture by the ex-Prime Minister was interpreted as a loud gesture that his party would not back down despite the endorsement of Mariga by Uhuru.

Things got thick for Mariga and Uhuru after Nominated MP Maina Kamanda opted to support Imran instead of the former Inter midfielder.

A week ago, Kamanda publicly endorsed the late Ken Okoth’s brother after a closed door meeting with Raila at Capitol Hill.

“I am here in my personal capacity. As Jubilee, we have a candidate but as a person, I will be with the ODM candidate.” remarked Kamanda.

The former Starehe MP pointed out that his decision was in the spirit of the Handshake agreement.

He added that other people would back him by supporting the ODM candidate ahead of the slated November 7 by-election.

“There are so many other MPs who want to come and support him (Imran) just for one reason that we have enjoyed peace in this country and we don’t want that peace to be thrown out by few people who do want to see that we have achieved so much …..that you can move Kibera freely without interference without tribal fighting.” stated the vocal Kamanda.
