It is more than 48 hours since the Precious Talent School tragedy, where eight precious souls went to school but never returned to their parents due to negligence and human error. Unfortunately, none of the people involved in this have been arrested or arraigned for questioning by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

The ill-fated building was constructed using chicken wire mesh. This is a criminal offence. The owner of the school and the authorities which approved construction should take full responsibility for the accident and endangering the lives of more than 800 pupils.

So why is the DCI not taking action?

Police are scratching their heads as they try to unravel the mysterious murder of Rai Cement factory manager Chetan Vyas, who was killed three days ago at his house within the factory precincts.

Detectives were still collating information in a bid to arrest three suspects in the mysterious death of the 50-year-old manager.

Senators have proposed that the Kenya Revenue Authority should start collecting revenues for County governments.

The lawmakers said counties were losing revenue running into billions due to leakages associated with systems they use.

They cited administrative inefficiency, gaps in policy, weak laws and collusion between unscrupulous county officers and cash collection firms.

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has come under a lot of criticism for suspending 18 senior county employees over the Precious Talent School tragedy. This is not the first time the governor has done this. Most of the suspensions or firing come after tragedies such as collapse of buildings or fires. Do you think Sonko is justified to suspend employees yet the results of investigations are never made public or is it just a knee jerk reaction?
