Orengo Spills The Beans On How ODM Used Monies Collected From Nasa Paybill

NASA leaders consult during a fundraising for the burial of the victims of police brutality at Laico Hotel, Nairobi on November 24, 2017.

Senate Minority Leader James Orengo on Sunday revealed how much Nasa collected from the Nasa pay bill and how the monies were spent.

Speaking to K24’s Punchline show host, Ann Kiguta, Orengo said they collected about Ksh 6 million from Kenyans.

He added that contrary to political gimmicks and reports indicating that the ODM Party swindled the funds, the Orange Party used the monies to support the victims of the violence.

” If you look at the accounts, ODM used every coin to facilitate the funeral expenses of the victims. We raised about Ksh5-6 million,” said Orengo.

The Senate Minority Leader also revealed that Nairobi Women Rep Esther Passaris and Former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama were in charge of the funds and they ensured evrything went out smoothly.

“I want to thank Esther Passaris and Muthama. They ran up and down in sourcing for funds, visited mortuaries and ensured every victim was assisted in their final Journey,” said the Senator.

The revelations come at the backdrop of ANC Party leader Musalia Mudavadi’s statements which insinuated that the ODM party had ostensibly misused the funds.

The ANC leader claimed that he was not privy to how the funds were used and how much was collected.

He asked the ODM party to give an account of the funds saying the victims had not been given justice they deserve.

According to the Human Rights report of 2017, Up to 70 people died during the Nasa demonstrations.
