We hope you had a wonderful weekend. Unfortunately, a family in Vihiga County had a weekend to forget after losing their kin in painful circumstances.
A woman died after spending hours pleading with hospital staff to attend to her. According to a video that has gone viral on social media, the woman desperately cried for help, writhing in pain as she waited in the hospital’s waiting bay.
Nobody was ready to attend to her and at the end, she passed on, exposing the poor emergency response systems in our hospitals.

Matiang’i Clashes with Senator Over Ruto
Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi clashed with Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot over claims that Deputy President William Ruto saved him from the Ruaraka land saga.
Cheruiyot had claimed that he was summoned by Ruto to the DP’s office where he was asked about an adverse report in the Senate touching on the CS.
“The Deputy President called me on his hotline. I rushed there and found him with Matiang’I in the office. He asked me about the issues with the report and I told him it was witch hunt,” the Senator claimed.
Businesses Set Early Deadline for Ksh 1000 Notes
The public now has even lesser days to exchange their Ksh 1000 notes as businesses set early deadlines than that of Central Bank of Kenya.
On Saturday, Safaricom issued a statement alerting customers that M-Pesa shops will not accept old notes after Thursday this week, four days ahead of CBK’s September 30 deadline.
Mariga Faces Another Hurdle
A Kibra voter has filed a suit at the High Court, accusing the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) of irregularly clearing footballer McDonald Mariga to run in the November 7 by-election.
The petitioner, Leina Konchella, argues that Mariga is not a duly registered voter since his name is not in the voters’ register.
Tob Cohen’s sister Gabriel Van Straten left the country on Saturday to attend to ‘pending personal business’ in the Netherlands, just hours after she received her brother’s written will. This means she will not attend Cohen’s private burial ceremony in Nairobi. Her trip has raised more questions than answers and comes even as the defence lawyer Philip Murgor called for her investigation over Cohen’s murder.
