Bodybuilding star Faith Wairimu has announced her return to the sport, from a one-year sabbatical.

The 2018 Great Western Runner-up has been out on maternity leave, and she is now ready to get into shape for competitions.

This comes about two months after successfully giving birth to a bouncing baby boy. While expressing her joy, she told Opera News that she will soon make a mark in the upcoming tournaments organized by Kenya Bodybuilding Federation (KBBF).

Wairimu, who is popularly known as Roxy within the bodybuilding circles, specializes in Bikini category of Bodybuilding- a thing she has been doing since 2015 when she was first introduced by her husband Charles Mwangi who is also a bodybuilder. Mwangi competes in Physique category.

“I’m happy that I’ve become a mother and I think it is one of the reasons I should be confident about making a comeback.  I know it will take me a few months to fully regain my shape but I will soon become a formidable force to reckon with in my category,” she said.

Her ambition is to emulate Kenya’s most celebrated female bodybuilder Evelyn Owala, who won the most coveted Africa Bodybuilding Championship title in Angola last month-coming just a few days after winning the Arnold Classic South Africa championship title.

So far, Evelyn is the Miss Kenya (Figure) 2016, Miss Kenya (Figure) 2018, Miss Kenya runner up 2017, Arnold Classic South Africa championship 2019 and the recent African Championship title (Wellness).
