Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu has come out to tell the Tangatanga women outfit, Inua Mama, that no political rallies will be carried out in Nyeri before 2022 General Elections Period.

Through his facebook page, Ngunjiri has first asked for forgiveness from the Inua Mama leaders. But he has maintained his earlier stand that no political rallies or campaigns will be held in his turf of Nyeri.

Moreover, Ngunjiri has gone ahead to defend himself stating that he did not disrupt the Inua Mama meeting . However he claims that the meeting had nothing important to deliver except abusing those opposed to Ruto’s Presidency.

But the actual picture of the event painted a chaotic scene.  A few minutes after it started, the meeting turned chaotic when a section of the women engaged in a shouting match with youth who they accused of attempting to disrupt the meeting.

The police then arrested several people and calm was briefly restored, with the leaders praising Nyeri Woman Representative Rahab Mukami and pledging support for Building Bridges Initiative.

The cause of the entire scuffle is when Mukami stated that she is supporting both President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto which the youths stated shouting ‘support Uhuru only’. Angered by the response, the women turned on the youth, and people fled in panic.

Maragua MP Mary Waithira and Kandara MP Alice Wahome pointed fingers at  Ngunjiri Wambugu, alleging he was behind the chaos witnessed earlier in the meeting.

“We will not allow anyone to intimidate women, we do not have to ask for permission to hold a meeting in this constituency,” she said.
