Fans have joined former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho in criticizing Frank Lampard’s squad selection and debutant Mason Mount.
Mourinho, who was once Lampard’s coach, claimed that Chelsea should have started more experienced players during their Sunday match against their age-long rivals Manchester United.
The Portuguese also suggested that Mount, the 19-year-old midfielder making his first debut for Chelsea, striker Tammy Abraham, 21, and defender Andreas Christensen, 23, did not offer enough for “a match of this dimension”.
Lampard, on his side, said that he would not care what his critics said and was more surprised to hear Mourinho had singled out Mount, who shown encouraging moments.
Lampard on Mourinho: “He didn't like the performance of Mason Mount? Did he say Mason Mount? I don't have to be too concerned about what anyone else says, the pundits.” #CFC

But fans, who keenly followed the match, stood with Mourinho, stating that Lampard’s selection was not up to standard.
Mount wasn’t brilliant. And Lampard clearly has a soft spot for him that I think if not watched will lead to selection issues down the line due to him favoring the young lad.

No I was fuming and my day was ruined by watching the fecking brick wall , more shots from Barkley more impact on the game but hey lampard agreed with you , but Mount was bang average bottom line and that’s coming from Jose mourhino who didn’t like him

Mount def has potential BUT he’s coming from a mediocre side in the championship, you cannot expect him to do bits on his debut at OT
Mount shouldn’t start
Chelsea still need to start with the senior players and integrate the championship lads and young lads with care

The two CBs are our problem especially Kurt Zouma. I wish the two of them were as comfortable with ball on their feet as our goalkeeper is with ball on his feet.

Lampard is still far too sensitive. He can’t be a premier league manager until he gets a thicker skin.

He better pay heed to some of the pundits opinion because some are well experienced than he https://t.co/AZT8rNR45q fact mount hasn’t reached that level of starting for Chelsea.
