Arsenal started the new Premier League campaign on a winning note after seeing off Newcastle United on Sunday. Gabonese striker Pierre Emerick Aubameyang got the only goal of the match after very good work from Ainsley Maitland Niles on the right-wing.
The match also saw record Arsenal signing Nicholas Pepe make his Premier League debut for the club alongside Gabriele Martinelli and midfielder Dani Ceballos. It was not exactly the kind of performance that will impress most Arsenal fans but of importance was the 3 points and a clean sheet.
However, despite the good start from the team, Henrik Mkhitaryan’s performance left many fans wishing he was not at the club. The Armenian international was easily the worst player on the pitch as he constantly lost possession and passed the ball unconvincingly.
